Animal ART Source Register
Equine & Bovine Reproduction

The documented, quality-rated evidence base behind the Animal IVF Store Bovine and Equine Reproduction Technical References — covering artificial insemination (AI), embryo transfer (ET), in vitro fertilization (IVF), in vitro embryo production (IVP), and advanced reproductive techniques (OPU, ICSI, cryopreservation, cloning). Every entry below was individually verified against the publisher, registry, or issuing body on the compilation date. Nothing is cited from memory.

§01

Purpose & Method

↑ contents

This register is the published evidence base of the Animal IVF Store technical references, built to the same standard as the IVF Store Clinical IVF Laboratory Procedure Manual: sources first, procedures second, so that every protocol statement in the references can be traced — by its S-number — to a named, rated authority on this page.

Each source was located and verified on 26 August 2026 by one of four verification methods, recorded per entry: Direct — the page or document itself was retrieved and its content confirmed; Registry — bibliographic details (authors, journal, volume, pages, DOI) confirmed against Crossref, Europe PMC, or WorldCat, the authoritative registries for published literature; Search-verified — existence and publisher confirmed via multiple independent records where the publisher blocks direct retrieval (common for Elsevier/Wiley journal homepages); Partial — a stated limitation remains, described in the entry's caveat. Chapter/article locators are given where directly verified (WOAH article numbers, ICAR Section 6, book chapters inspected); page-level locators are added only from direct inspection of the work. Anything that could not be verified was excluded or flagged — see §13 for the honest list of residual uncertainties.

How the technical references use this register. In the Bovine and Equine Reproduction Technical References, procedure statements cite Tier A and B sources as authority; Tier C sources inform practical technique and are corroborated before use; Tier D sources are background only. Commercial sources are always identified as such.
§02

Quality Rating System

↑ contents

TIER A Definitive

International standards, consensus bodies, landmark peer-reviewed work, or the recognized defining reference of its topic. Safe to cite as primary authority.

TIER B Strong

Authoritative textbooks, peer-reviewed reviews, and society standards with minor currency or scope limits noted in the entry.

TIER C Credible practical

Extension guides, practitioner proceedings, and commercial protocols. Real-world technique from credible operators — corroborate before citing as authority.

TIER D Supplementary

Background, historical, or instrumentation material. Use for context, never as sole support for a procedure.

Independently of tier, every entry carries a role: Evidence & standards (standards bodies, regulation, textbooks and peer-reviewed literature — the only entries the technical references cite as claim-level authority); Practical protocol (training manuals, extension sheets and proceedings how-tos — citable for technique when their tier permits); Discovery resource (journals, proceedings venues, portals and program hubs — places where evidence is found, never themselves evidence for a procedure); and Commercial instructions (supplier and operator materials — always identified as commercial and corroborated before use).

ROLE: EVIDENCE & STANDARDS · INTERNATIONAL STANDARD · BOVINE + EQUINE · ET/IVP/ICSI/SCNT · FREE ONLINE · VERIFIED: DIRECT (Ch. 4.8, 4.9, 4.12 fetched; Art. 4.8.7 trypsin text re-verified against current online chapter)

These chapters embed the IETS/HASAC disease-risk categorization and embryo washing/trypsin protocols — the legal-trade expression of the underlying IETS science. Ch. 4.8 text

Pre-2024 editions number these chapters differently; cite the online-version date alongside the archived edition. Note for equine use: Art. 4.8.7 states trypsin treatment is "not always beneficial and it should not be regarded as a general disinfectant" and "may also have adverse effects on embryo viability, for instance in the case of equine embryos where the embryonic capsule could be damaged by the enzyme" — bovine and equine sanitary assurances are not equivalent (reflected in the references’ §4).

Commercial & Laboratory Protocol Sources

S86–S94↑ contents
All nine entries in this section carry a commercial interest — they sell the products or services their protocols specify. They document real, current industry practice at scale, which is exactly why they belong in the register, but the manual must corroborate any protocol claim from them against Tier A/B literature and identify them as commercial when cited.

Verification Notes & Residual Uncertainties

↑ contents

A register that claims to survive scrutiny must disclose what it could not fully verify. The following are the honest residuals as of 26 August 2026:

1. IETS Manual edition year (S7). The 4th edition, format, price and languages are confirmed on iets.org; the year 2010 and Stringfellow & Givens editorship rest on WorldCat and citing literature. Confirm with IETS before print.

2. WOAH currency (S1–S2). Entries cite the current online Code (updated 5 September 2025, 92nd General Session, Resolution No. 25) alongside the archived 32nd edition (2024) as the citation of record; the Ch. 4.6 and 4.8 texts were fetched directly, including the Art. 4.8.7 trypsin caution reflected in the equine reference.

3. Corrected attributions established during verification: Allen & Rowson 1972 is congress proceedings, not a J Reprod Fertil paper (S51); the equine ET history review is Kraemer 2013, not Squires (S65); Galli's OPU/ICSI/SCNT review is 2014, not 2007 (S63); Squires et al. 1996 reports a pregnancy, not a birth (S52); Felix et al. 2022 has a published correction to cite alongside (S55); Reproduction has moved from Bioscientifica to Oxford University Press (S77).

4. Flagged before use: Strøbech attribution on current IVF Bioscience guides (S86); Botupharma founder attribution (S93); ISER recent proceedings venue (S80); Genex resources (unverified — excluded); Holden & Butler 2018 DOI (S39, seen but not re-verified); AETE current statistics compiler (S19); EU import acts 2020/692 and 2021/403 (mentioned at S4, not fetched).

5. Excluded as uncitable: current CSU commercial short-course manuals (not publicly published — FAO Paper 77, S25, is the citable form); any "AAEP reproduction guidelines" as a single document (does not exist — S16 is the verified AAEP item); Gordon 3rd edition and Hafez 8th edition (do not exist).

Document control. Compiled by Animal IVF Store with AI-assisted research and verification. Scientific reviewer: to be named on publication — until a named reviewer appears here, treat this page as editorially compiled, not peer-reviewed. Jurisdictional scope: international standards (WOAH, IETS) with United States and European Union regulatory detail; other jurisdictions differ. Change log: Ed. 1.0 (26 Aug 2026) — initial published edition: 94 sources, verified the same date; incorporates a pre-publication external review (WOAH online-Code currency, APHIS routing correction, per-source anchors and DOI links, role taxonomy, jump index and accessibility).
